How to Claim Your Confiscated Driver's License in Pasig City
If you are a driver who has been caught violating traffic rules in Pasig City, you may have had your driver's license confiscated by the authorities. Depending on who issued the citation, you will need to follow different steps to reclaim your license and pay the corresponding fines.
Fortunately, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has announced an amnesty program for traffic violators that will run from November 11, 2019 to April 3, 2020. Under this program, you can redeem your confiscated driver's license by paying only the basic fine and a maximum penalty of 10 percent, instead of the usual 2 percent daily penalty that can accumulate over time.
Here are the steps you need to take to claim your confiscated driver's license in Pasig City:
Head to the enforcement office. The citation issued to you will indicate the location of the enforcement office where you can claim your license. If your license was confiscated by local government enforcement officers, you will need to go to the office stated on the ticket. For example, if you were apprehended in Manila, you will need to go to Manila City Hall. If your license was confiscated by LTO deputized traffic officials, you will need to go to the LTO district office or the LTO main office in East Ave., Quezon City.
Pay the fine. The procedure for paying the fine differs depending on which enforcement agency confiscated your license. For the LTO, you will be given a resolution document that must be presented along with the citation. Present these to the cashier so you can pay the fine and other fees. For licenses confiscated by local government enforcers, present the ticket at the designated window and wait for them to compute your total fine. Proceed to the cashier to make the payment after.
Attend a seminar and take a test (if applicable). Licenses confiscated by LTO enforcers will require that you attend a two-hour seminar on Traffic Safety Management. You will also need to pass a test before you can reclaim your license. You will be given a certificate stating that you have passed the seminar. This is not required for licenses confiscated by local government enforcement.
Claim your license. You can get your license after submitting the necessary documents to the releasing area. For the LTO, you will submit the seminar certificate. For the local government, your license will be released with a receipt after you have been informed of the violation in full and paid the fine.
Reclaiming your license should take just a few hours and is best done immediately to avoid additional penalties if you are unable to settle the ticket within five working days. Remember that driving without a valid license is illegal and can result in more fines and sanctions.
